I have woken up to an entirely new world...The results are already speaking volumes...every woman under the age of 40 in my office made some sort of positive comment when they saw me.

I'm probably not the type of person you'd typically imagine would seek out a personal stylist; a young software developer, nerd among nerds who had not done any serious clothes shopping in years.  I did not really have any sense of style. Rare were the days I actually felt good about getting dressed.  When I was introduced to the idea of a personal stylist and actually assessed my wardrobe, I realized I seriously needed one.

Confronted with the challenge of finding the right stylist, I took to Google for some in-depth research.  There are plenty of stylists in Denver, but when Google connected me with The Shopping Friend I knew I had found the right place.  After I filled out the style questionnaire on their website, Michelle got back to me with recommended stylists on her team based on my needs.  I decided to purchase a style package that combined a closet consultation and personal shopping spree and worked directly with Michelle.

The Shopping Friend uses a discovery process to get to know you, and your goals before your appointment even begins.  Despite the fact that I am generally bad with new people I felt super comfortable around Michelle from the get go. She is amazingly friendly, supportive, and just an awesome person in general.  It almost felt like I had known her for years.  The closet consultation confirmed my fears - I did not own a single piece of clothing that actually fit me well.  My clothes were communicating a bad message every time I wore them.  You might think that sounds pretty dire, but Michelle is a miracle worker - I'm convinced if styling was a chess match she'd destroy Bobby Fischer ten times out of ten.

Michelle knew what looked good on me and helped me understand why certain looks were good while others just did not work for me.  The clothes she found for me emphasized strong features of my body type while minimizing the weaker ones...I feel like Neo right after he took the Red Pill in The Matrix - I have woken up to an entirely new world.  By the end of the day we had built up a versatile set of basics (appropriate both personally and professionally) in a style that better communicated who I am - and we managed to get it done within the budget parameters I had set before the appointment!

The results are already speaking volumes.  On a personal level, for the first time in my life I'm actually excited about getting dressed in the morning.  I feel so much more confident about what I'm wearing, and that confidence is starting to rub off on my mentality in other areas of life too.

I'm a guy, I hate shopping. Well, hate might be too strong a word, but I strongly dislike it. Years ago I heard about personal shopper services and finally decided to give one a try after reading reviews on Yelp.

The few things she left me with I, at least, know they are decent and wearable. Her feedback on why certain things were not good enough was extremely helpful, and exactly what I needed. A friend and I could never have done this. I completely lost the whole concept of coordinating an outfit, and pulling a look together. 

The one time was not enough but it helped a lot. I'll be contacting you for another appointment very soon. I told her I would like to do a shopping trip. I need more help for sure, and I don't want the first appointment to go out the window. I think a second session can get me back to a pretty decent track : ) Thank you again for everything!

She was spot-on in her selections and I KNOW I would have taken forever finding things to try on.

It went very well.  Melynda was super-helpful, and although I was privately a bit concerned when she did the pre-shopping, she was spot-on in her selections and I KNOW I would have taken forever finding things to try on (we all agree I have a tendency to over-analyze my options).  We got there for a pre-sale at Bloomingdales, magically, and I saved soooooo much money (so they tell me). 

Darby (daughter) even had a great time, and actually thanked me for taking her, so a big "whoop, whoop" to that!

That all said, once the high wore off, I think that I now have more clothing than closet space;). Which is a good problem to have.

So all said and done, Melynda was top-notch, and very helpful and understanding, but not too coddling toward my image issues.  She illustrated that we all only see the worst in ourselves, and after a few try-ons, I got past it.  And, for the ultimate critique, on the way home, Darby told me that, yes, indeed my previous clothes WERE baggy and she appreciated seeing me in clothing that fit, that it made me actually look thinner.  Go figure?

So, considerably poorer and immensely happier, I want to say thanks to both you and Melynda.  And the fact that you can care all the way from London is a miracle as well.
